Hypertension is a condition where arterial blood pressure exceeds normal limits and experiences a persistent increase. High blood pressure occurs because the blood has increased by more than 140/90 mmHg on two measurements with an interval of five minutes in a calm/rest state (Kemenkes RI, 2014). Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2013 stated that 26.5% of Indonesia's population suffers from hypertension. This study aims to determine patient characteristics (age and gender) and class of drugs prescribed to outpatients at RSAU dr.M. Salamun period April-May 2023. This study used a retrospective descriptive method, the sampling technique in this study used a simple random sampling technique. The number of samples taken was 334 prescription sheet.. The results showed that 36% of patients with hypertension included >65 years of age, 29% of 56-65 years of age, 24% of 46-55 years of age, 7% of 36-45 years of age, and 1% of 26-35 years of age. There are more women with hypertension (55%) than men (45%). The highest use of a single drug was Candesartan in the ARB class, namely 18 prescriptions (6.9%), the most used combination of antihypertensive drugs was a combination of two drugs in the BB and ARB groups, namely Bisoprolol and Candesartan, 32 times (12.4%).
